The Treachery of Words

With apologies to René Magritte.

This being my first post ANYWHERE, in any form, in a good long while, I would be remiss if I didn’t make some vaguely obscure reference. If you’re playing along at home, I refer to “The Treachery of Images”, which is Magritte’s famous “This is not a pipe” painting (those words written below a very nice rendition… of a pipe. Surrealism, what can you do?)

As I write this, my Twitter feed is full of panic and at least one person in five appears to be (existentially) on fire. Alternating in the timeline are vows of people never leaving the platform, uncertainty, and “in case Twitter is gone by Monday, I love you guys and here’s my newsletter so we can stay in touch.” I’m not leaving, but a newsletter is still a nice thing to read sometimes (less of a unicorn than, say, a tangible NOT-a-bill LETTER sent through the actual PHYSICAL MAIL!) So here we are.

I will use this for occasional art updates, exciting news from the Danielle-verse (because really, I shouldn’t rely on social media as the only means of announcing such things), subscriber-only coupons for my art shop, and miscellaneous nattering.

Here’s a close-up of a pearlescent painting I finished tonight, of a crazy Aurora Borealis night sky:

(Please note: as of the writing of this post, my subscriber base consists solely of my husband and close friends. You lot mostly get my art for free, so the fabulous future coupon savings aren’t much incentive, but I trust you won’t unsubscribe. Please.)
